Simplify expressions with the distributive property, incl. with negative numbers (grade 8/algebra)

Learn to use the distributive property to simplify expressions such as −3(2x − 5) and −(15a − 7y + 4) — expressions that involve negative numbers. This is a necessary precursor before learning to solve linear equations in general. We also briefly look at factoring, which is the opposite process.
