Describing functions (8th grade math)

Two basic ways to describe a function are:

  • whether it is increasing, decreasing, or constant in any interval
  • whether it is linear or nonlinear in any specific interval

In the second video, we analyze a graph of a function that shows a car's distance from a wall. What real-life events could the graph depict?

Secondly, I sketch a graph of a boat's distance to the shore, to match a given description of how that boat travels and comes back.
