Negative fractions (grade 7 math/prealgebra)

If the denominator or the numerator of a fraction is a negative integer (and the other is positive), we get a negative fraction. For example, (−2)/5 and 2/(−5) both are equal to −2/5, or negative two fifths.

In this video, we look at this basic concept of a negative fraction, and then we look at an application. We find the average of various temperatures, some of which are positive and some are negative. The average ends up being a negative fraction.
