Linear functions and the rate of change, part 2 (8th grade math)

We continue studying the rate of change of linear functions. The first example is a time-distance graph of someone jogging. Is it showing a linear function? We calculate the rate of change between various points.

The second example is again a time-distance graph that shows someone or something traveling backwards. We see the function is not linear but it does have three linear segments. The rate of change is different in the different segments.

The last example is a table of values. Is it a linear function? We calculate the rate of change between various points to investigate.
