Multiplication as repeated addition (2nd grade math)

We take a look at the connection between multiplication and addition. Multiplication has to do with groups of the same size... and we can solve multiplication problems with repeated addition.

At first, the lesson uses visuals, but towards the end of the lesson, I encourage children to solve simple multiplication problems in their head by THINKING of addition (e.g. 3 × 5 or 4 × 100).
