Measurement Activity
Online practice

This online activity allows students to practice measuring the length or height of objects using an inch-ruler or a centimeter-ruler. The ruler needs to be dragged so that it lines up with the object to be measured.

In inches, you can choose to measure to the nearest whole inch, half-inch, quarter inch, 1/8 of an inch, or 1/16 of an inch. For example, first graders might measure objects in whole inches, second graders in whole and half inches, and so on, until students are measuring things to the sixteenth part of an inch in 4th or 5th grade.

Using centimeters, you can measure to the nearest centimeter or to the nearest millimeter. The millimeter-option has a tolerance of 1 mm, meaning that the answer has to be within 1 mm of the true measurement to be marked correct.

One special option is to use a broken ruler. This requires students to understand that length is a difference between two points on the ruler.

You also have the ability to send your student(s) a quick link with specific options pre-selected.
