1. Math Mammoth news

The next sale for MM digital products will be in mid-January, which means very soon!
Grade 7 International has been updated to reflect the 2025 edition of the U.S. version. If you've purchased a download in the past, you can make a new download link at https://www.mathmammoth.com/download-links.
Mamut Matemáticas Geometria inicial has been updated. Again, if you've purchased a download in the past, you can make a new download link at https://www.mathmammoth.com/download-links.

2. A NEW kind of placement test!

This test is especially designed for teachers, tutors, and anyone who needs to place several students into Math Mammoth.

Placement test, grades 1-3

Answer Key

a page from test
The test is more concise and covers only the most important math topics (the four operations, place value, and some geometry and fractions), while omitting some of the lesser topics (measurement, time, money, most of geometry).

It will help you gauge whether your student(s) would generally speaking place in Math Mammoth grade 1, 2, or 3 (or none of those), with just a single test.

The student is supposed to do all the questions they are able, and just leave the rest blank. In other words, the student does not have to finish the test, but do however much they can, in each section. The test is measuring the student's ability in several grade levels all at once. If they are able to do nearly all the questions, they will not place to Math Mammoth grades 1-3, but to Grade 4 or above. The grading for this test is different from the regular end-of-year tests and is explained in the PDF file.

The regular, comprehensive placement tests are still on this page. I recommend using them over the more concise test if you have the time, and also whenever you need to know in detail where a student has gaps. (The concise test does not even touch the topics of measurement, clock, or money.) The comprehensive tests work as generic math assessment tests, too.

3. Where to find Math Mammoth digital versions

Some of you may not realize this, but the MathMammoth.com website is not the only place where you can buy Math Mammoth digital products. You can also find them at these places:
  • Homeschool Planet logo
Homeschool Planet sells the main curriculum (grades 1-8). You can purchase the curriculum alone, lesson plans alone, or curriculum+lesson plan combos.
  • Homeschool Buyers Club logo
Homeschool Buyers Club sells the main curriculum (individual grades plus bundles) on a continual basis, plus from time to time they have 40% off sales for the large bundles.
  • K5 Learning logo
K5 Learning sells the Math Mammoth Blue series books (with their own covers). They also sell some of their own workbooks, especially for language arts.
  • TPT logo
At my TPT store you will find the main curriculum, shorter topical units, plus Math Mammoth bundles. TPT accepts more payment methods than the others; TPT accepts credit cards, PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, gift cards, purchase orders, and funds from your TPT account balance.

4. North Star Contests — free math competition

Interested in letting your child take part in a math competition? Here is your chance!

North Star Contests is an online math competition platform for students in kindergarten to grade 8, designed to reduce math anxiety and help kids build confidence through fun, low pressure challenges.

The next online competition runs from January 13th, 2026 8:00 AM to January 14th, 2026 6:00 PM EST. There is typically a registration fee, but I was given the promo code MathMammoth so you can join for FREE!

The promo code can be used for both new registrations AND existing North Star Contests accounts by editing your child's profile. Parents can register individual students, and teachers can register entire classes. Each student counts as one use of the code.

The promo code is valid until the competition closes or once all 200 spots are claimed, whichever comes first.

Click here to register and use the code MathMammoth when entering your student or child in the upcoming competition.

5. Mathy's Berry-Picking Adventure

You know how much I love mental math, and I want all students (as much as possible) to learn it too!

Join Mathy (our mammoth mascot) on his berry-picking adventure, and practice your mental math! You can choose single-digit or double-digit addition or subtraction, or multiplication tables. You get 100 berries (points) for every correct answer, and lose 50 for every wrong answer!

Go play!

Here are the options for the game:
